Conch Republic Seafood Company
The Conch Republic Seafood Company is one of our favorite places in town for easy, casual dining. Here, you get waterfront dining, large tables, friendly service, and a large selection of food that’s well-priced for any budget. Visitors can really relax here, in the cavernous restaurant that looks like it may have been a waterfront wharehouse in the past. Today, it’s richly decorated with giant aquariums, nostalgic items nailed to the walls, and huge picture windows that can disappear in good weather to create an open-air feeling where the gulfside breezes can flow through. Try and get a booth next to the aquarium, especially if you have kids. The fish are exotic and they sometimes do funny things like puff up and swim backwards, or watch you eat (don’t worry, they can’t get out). The bar is pleasant and also has a wide open feel to it, since it’s located right in the middle of the dining space, with everything all under one giant roof with tall ceilings. The whole feel of this place is refreshing, open, and casual. Really pleasant place to relax and have a good meal after walking the streets of Key West or the Historic Seaport, both of which can get busy and full of people at times.
Conch Republic Seafood Company has great burgers and fries, if you’re absolutely tired of seafood, or if you’re not a fan of seafood. A good item to try is their Conch Fritters, which seem to please just about anybody, including those who proclaim to not like seafood. Portions of everything are plenty big enough for anyone, and the quality is also superb.
It’s easy to find the Conch Republic Seafood Company because it’s right on the docks along the Key West Historic Seaport walk, and it’s pretty hard to miss because it’s a large building. |
