Diving in Key West

The main dive spot off Key West are Sand Key, which is popular and sometimes crowded. Snorkel and dive party boats usually go to Sand Key with its light. Other spots the dive boats take visitors are Eastern Dry Rocks adn Rock Key. Here there are some wrecks and interesting stones to explore. You can dive knowing that the area is now a Sanctuary Preservation Area whose giant yellow buoys carve out an area where spearfishing, tropical fish collecting, and fishing are prohibited. Cottrell Reef is shallow reef, so it makes for good snorkeling. If you head west three miles from Eastern Dry Rocks, you'll hit Western Dry Rocks which is a good dive spot because the water is clearest here.
